The NEET generation is that one that for personal decision or by certain socioeconomic circumstances is Not in Education, Employment, or Training, which become in a burden for their families. According to the OECD, it is possible that the constant increase of these people might be due to the global recession.
Although, it might seem that this phenomena is a little recent, it was formally implemented in the United Kingdom on 1999, in the article “ Closing the breach: New opportunities for young people around 16 and 18 years that are not studying, nor working”.
According to author and researcher Juan Carlos Guataquí, from the Observatorio Laboral of the Universidad del Rosario in Colombia, quoted by El Tiempo, it was shown that there is a gender pattern that is fundamental when referring to occupations or activities to which young population dedicate between 15 and 24 years.
According to a study from World Bank on 2016, in Latin America there was approximately 18 millions NEET, out of which 12 millions were women that come from vulnerable homes.
In the results from the investigation, it demonstrated that the female gender that is in this category is more productive in house works than men, which do not collaborate whatsoever in their houses.
The causes for existing the NEET changes, it might be due to the person that comes from families with low economic resources, there is a major number of students in the university faculties not having the disposition or interest to study and work, accepting the economic help of other ans becoming in a young age in mother or father.
Although, countries such as Spain have programs, as the Garantia Juvenil, to diminish the rate of NEET, which is still a 22% of young people around 16 and 29 years that are in that population category.
In Mexico, the International Bank for Development communicated recently that the Centre American country is in the second place with a major increment of young NEETs in the region, with 17%. It is foreseen that one of the ends that is going to leave this pandemic for CoVid-19 would be 462 thousand more people without studies or jobs.
Certain reports have shared that the ranges of ages in the NEET usually change, in the United Kingdom, it appears in young people between 15 and 24 years old; in Europe, it is between 15 and 39 years old; and, in Japan, it’s between 15 and 34 years old.
